THE WINE REGION

Tűzkő is on the border between Szekszárd and Tolna, two of the four regions that comprise the Pannon Wine Region, located in southern Hungary, surrounded by gently undulating hills. This ancient viticultural landscape boasts millennial winemaking traditions that originated with the ancient Romans in the Roman province of Pannonia and was further advanced by the first Hungarian kings who gave priority to safeguarding wine production with strict regulations.

The hills and valleys of the landscape and the different microclimates of the region create an incredible variety of terroirs that are particularly suitable for wine production. The Tolna wine region and the Völgység sub-region within it, where the estate's vineyards are located, are known for their fruity, fresh and mineral white wines, such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Tramini, Zöldveltelini, Szürkebarát and Rhine Riesling. In addition to the excellent whites, thanks to the characteristics of the loess hills (sedimentary soil deposited by the wind), your areas are also ideal for making extremely deep and complex red wines.
